Awareness

Awareness consultation hour

Because awareness means much more than having awareness people on site and should already be considered in event planning, as well as in terms of internal dynamics in the organizing teams, communication with and between different participants and also in public relations, we will offer an awareness consultation hour for all Ruhr-University Bochum members from the winter semester 2025/2026.

During consultation hours, we offer advice and support on the following topics:

  • on the topic of awareness in the planning and implementation of events in the university context
  • for diversity-sensitive and inclusive event applications
  • in the development of awareness concepts and measures
  • in internal team/group processes (communication, diversity sensitivity, team development)
  • for questions, challenges and processes in the area of awareness

You can reach us at any time by e-mail at unsercampus@rub.de and from now on also in our new awareness consultation hour!

Nina Bartholomé (UNSER CAMPUS project coordinator) is offering a weekly awareness consultation hour via Zoom on Mondays from 1 to 2 p.m. starting in the winter semester, where you can ask your questions and challenges or receive support with awareness processes.

To participate in the consultation hour, you can register via eveeno. You will find the link when you click on the corresponding date. After registering, you will receive a Zoom link from us.

Awareness-Pool

Are you planning an event and would like to have awareness people on site, but don’t know where to find them and need help finding them? No problem! Over the last few semesters, we have built up a student awareness pool from the people who have completed our awareness workshops. There are currently over 50 students in this pool and we will be happy to forward your request to them. You can simply send us the following information by email to unsercampus@rub.de:

  • For which event are you looking for people and who is the organizer? Does the event take place in a specific setting?
  • Where, on what date and at what times does the event take place? Are you planning to work in shifts?
  • How many people are you looking for/need (possibly per shift)?
  • What is the fee per hour (minimum wage)?

Please understand that we will only forward requests that provide for financial remuneration of the awareness persons.

Awareness bag rental

Do you have an event but no budget or time to put together your own awareness bags?

No problem! UNSER CAMPUS and the Anti-Discrimination Office are now offering up to 10 awareness bags on loan for student awareness work.

You can borrow the bags for a deposit of €3 per bag (or €15 for all 5). The deposit will be returned to you once the bags have been returned.

Just send an e-mail to unsercampus@rub.de.

What is in the bags?

One bag contains…

  • An information folder
  • A first aid kit
  • A writing pad and a ballpoint pen
  • A stress ball
  • Handkerchiefs
  • Period products
  • Magnesium tablets
  • Dextrose
  • Condoms
  • Disinfectants and wipes
  • Earplugs

And how does it all work?

Awareness networking meeting for Ruhr-University Bochum students

In close cooperation with the FSVK and the student councils, the project OUR CAMPUS – against sexism at Ruhr University Bochum! and the Ruhr University Bochum Equal Opportunities Office have developed a handout dedicated to the topic of awareness in the planning and organization of student-organized events. From this process and the awareness workshops in the summer semester 2024, interest has arisen in further networking between students on the topic of awareness at Ruhr University. This networking meeting will take place on October 27, 2025 from 3 pm to 4:30 pm. Interested parties can register here.

Awareness-Workshops for Students

To accompany the awareness handout, we offer awareness workshops for members of the student councils in which the contents of the handout are discussed in greater depth.

In order to implement the theoretical contents of the “Awareness handout for student-organized events at Ruhr University Bochum” in practical student council work, we have developed a two-part workshop format for you.

The workshops in the Winter term 2025/2026 will take place on 18.11.2025 and 02.12.2025, both from 14-19 hrs. If you are interested, you can register here.

Awareness handout for student-organized events at the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB)

In cooperation with “UNSER CAMPUS” and the Central Equal Opportunities Office, in close cooperation with the FSVK and the student councils of the Ruhr University Bochum , an “Awareness handout for student-organized events at the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB)” has been created. This is now available for download here in German and English. The handout is intended to help students (e.g. in student councils) who organize events to develop and successfully implement an awareness concept. If you have any questions or comments, please send us an e-mail!

You can download the handout in German and English here:

Awareness at the start-of-semester party

OUR CAMPUS also helped to establish and implement awareness measures at the AKAFÖ’s semester kick-off party.

The cultural bureau BOSKOP of the AKAFÖ organizes a semester start party every semester, maybe you have already been there?

We are delighted about the cooperation with BOSKOP and the opportunity to also provide the SemesterStartParty with information on awareness and thus make it a little safer.

In addition to various notices with e.g. bus and train times or cab numbers, you will also find various flyers with information on consensus and knockout drops. You can also download them here in German, we are currently working on the English versions.
