Workshop: Safer Space for BIPoC FLINTA* with Jasmin Mouissi

In this workshop, Jasmin invites you to create a space together in which we can engage intensively with our experiences as BIPoC FLINTA*.
The workshop will take place on 27.05.2025 from 16.00 to 19.00 via Zoom. You can register here.
Racism is a special form of discrimination. For many people, experiences of racism are an integral part of everyday life, a constant companion that leaves behind painful experiences time and time again. Racism can also be very powerful when combined with other forms of discrimination. Being confronted with this structural violence and having to deal with it can be an enormous challenge for those affected.
Empowerment is a form of resistance against racism. Safer spaces can serve as a strategy for action to consciously deal with the reality of one’s own life.
This workshop offers a safe(r) space and focuses on the experiences of BIPoC FLINTA* at the Ruhr University Bochum.
Different power relations are also effective in Safer Spaces. We will develop an awareness of this with the aim of strengthening our individual and collective resistance to racism and intersectional discrimination.
Participants can share their experiences, gain clarity about racism and intersectional discrimination, develop options for action, explore resources for resistance and self-empowerment, network and draw strength.
About the workshop leader:
My name is Jasmin Mouissi. I live, love, learn and laugh as a Black woman. For many years, I have been thinking, speaking, researching, writing and teaching about empowerment, critique of racism and power, and Critical Whiteness with the goal of co-creating a more connected and peaceful world.

I work from an intersectional perspective with needs- and process-oriented offers in order to meet people in their multidimensionality.
“Only by learning to live in harmony with your contradictions can you keep it all afloat.”
